Talk us through Mahanandi
As
you know, the film has been doing well at almost all the centers. That
is what makes me happy. For a performer like, it gives me a great
satisfaction to see all those who were connected with the film to do
well. Distributors have told us that the film is indeed doing well.
How was it working in it?
In
one word satisfying. This is certainly a different kind of role for
me.Though I had done lot of fights in my films, this was indeed
different. The action sequences had something extra. There was a veneer
of realism to it all. All the five fight sequences involving me were
indeed good.
Did you have any reservations about doing such a role?
There
were no reservations, as I knew I was in the good hands of a talented
director like Samudra. We sat and discussed the various possibilities.
He convinced me about the need for the fights. I went along and I am
now very happy for doing the role.
Doing such a character was almost a giant leap of faith for you. In the sense, you were seen more in lover boy kind of roles
The
name of the game now is to be different and provide interesting things
at every turn. You cannot stick to one particular kind of character. I
like to experiment. It has been a voyage of self-discovery.
How was it working with Sri Hari?
Well,
he suited the role to a T. His was almost a larger than life character
in the movie. He has given a very good account of himself. We are happy
that we cast him in the role. He has done a very good job. I also want
to mention here a word about Kamalkar’s music. He was fabulous.
These remakes and dubbed films rule the roost here. Your comment
Well,
if the film is good it runs. No film runs without any basis. Ghajini,
Aparichitudu ran because the story and its treatment were different and
interesting. Good films, whichever they are presented, will run.
Tell us about your next, Godavari
It
has been a pleasure working with someone like Shekar (Kammula). He
knows what he wants from his cast. He has fine understanding of the
dynamics of filmmaking. He has a nous for music and melody. Listen to
Godavari songs you will understand it.
